What are the biggest things in TV this year? 4K resolution (aka way more clarity and sharpness) and HDR (aka tons more brightness and color). Sounds pretty awesome, right? It's also painfully expensive—or so we thought.

Best Buy's rocking a deal right now on the 65UH5500 ($999, was $1,299) and 50UH5500 ($549, was $649), a pair of 4K, smart, HDR-compatible sets that utilize LG's signature Magic Remote and the webOS 3.0 platform to deliver a seriously next-gen TV viewing experience.

A 65-inch 4K HDR-ready smart TV for $999 is the definition of a "best buy."

The idea here is a jaw-dropping picture coupled with a super user-friendly interface and bolstered by forward-facing features. Of course, the UH5500 TVs aren't quite super-premium: I spent enough time with the step-up UH8500 to wager that the UH5500 sets will have similar issues that might bother really picky viewers.

But for everybody else, these TVs are a solid value, especially if you haven't upgraded your TV in a while. The brilliant brightness, rich color, and high resolution you'll get from these HDR-ready sets won't warrant complaint. A 65-inch 4K smart TV that'll play HDR content for under $1,000 is the definition of a "best buy."
