One such TV is the Panasonic VT60, which is now on sale at B&H Photo. So it's 65 inches and costs over $2,000 and maybe that just screams excessive (especially for those of us on a writer's salary). However, considering it's discounted from $3,597 and comes with free shipping, it's still a steal for those with the money to spend.
Samsung PN51F8500
You may be noticing that we often recommend plasmas over LEDs, but this is for good reason. The TVs that make the best use of this technology give consumers the deepest blacks and most realistic color accuracy for the best picture. These are devices for people that value good image quality over anything else, including models like the Samsung PN51F8500 blow most of them out of the water. Its brightness is insane and it produces deep blacks for an amazing watching experience. Now it's on sale at Amazon for $1,597 with free shipping. Panasonic Viera P50S60
If you can't afford the VT60 up there, you can always check out the Panasonic S60, which is still a great plasma but costs a lot less—thousands of dollars less if you want to get specific. The 50-inch version is on sale at Best Buy for $699 with free shipping, putting it within the price range of even the average consumer. It doesn't have flashy extras like a smart platform or 3D, so if you're just looking for a great picture and nothing else, your search stops here.
Vizio E551i-A2
Another cheaper option is the Vizio E55li-A2, which goes one step beyond the S60 by giving you access to smart features and, therefore, programs such as Netflix and Hulu Plus. You'll hopefully never run out of something to watch on this LED, which is on sale at Walmart for $797 with the option for free shipping or free in-store pickup. Despite this being an LED, you also get a deep, dynamic contrast ratio and accurate color production.
LG 55LM6200
LG is the another big name in TV manufacturing, although many of its products don't hold their own next to some of the Panasonic plasmas in our tests. That doesn't mean they're bad TVs though, especially with entries like the LM6200, which won a "Best of the Year" badge in 2012. It's not for the strict picture quality lover, but it is packed full of features such as 3D and built-in WiFi, and does produce a decent image for the price. It's also on sale at AllTimeTVs for $1,149 with free shipping.
