Now's not a bad time to buy a 4K TV—but it's a terrific time to buy a Full HD (1080p) model like the Samsung UN50J5500 (MSRP $1,299, online for $799).
Basically, as 4K options become more widespread, 1080p TVs keep getting more affordable and more valuable. You'd have never gotten a 50-inch smart TV for $800 a couple of years ago, and it's a well-timed purchase if you aren't looking to upgrade your entire AV ecosystem for 4K compatibility any time soon.
