Sony's Super-Slim 4K TVs Are Now Available in the US

The 55-, 65-, and 75-inch TVs join stateside retailers in July.

This morning, Sony announced the US availability of its X900C and X910C 4K TV series. The TVs debuted during CES in January, and made waves as Sony's slimmest-ever LED models, measuring at just under 0.2 inches in thickness.

The 55- and 65-inch X900C TVs (XBR-55X900C, XBR-65X900C) start at $2,499 and $3,999 respectively, while the 75-inch X910C (XBR-75X910C) starts at $5,499. The TVs are about the same depth as most smartphones; the 75-inch X910C in particular is the thinnest 75-inch TV ever made.

Additionally, the TVs utilize a special bracket that allows them to rest—almost completely flat—against the wall. While the X900C/X910C work with traditional tabletop stands too, that unique wall-mounted appearance seems like a selling point.

Like most of Sony's premium 4K options, these models are equipped with the company's new Android TV smart platform. From what we've seen already, Android TV successfully mimics the mobile device OS traditionally found on smartphones and tablets. It also takes heavy advantage of services like Google Play and Google Cast.

Users will also gain access to Sony's PlayStation Now game streaming service with any Android TV-equipped model, and can even plug a PlayStation DualShock 4 controller right into the TV's USB port. You'll still have to pay the subscription fee, of course.

The X900C and X910C TVs naturally boast a 3,840 x 2,160 resolution (4K), with four times the pixel clarity as comparable Full HD models. Sony's Triluminos color enhancement promises to deliver equally stunning color vivacity, and we're excited to see how the improved X1 upscaling engine handles non-4K content.

The XBR-55X900C, XBR-65X900C, and XBR-75X910C are available for pre-order starting today, and will be fully available in retail stores this June. As always, stay tuned to Reviewed.com Televisions in coming months for the "skinny" on these remarkably slender displays.
