Earlier this year, Amazon announced that it would be teaming up with several major Hollywood studios in order to deliver ultra-high definition content to Amazon Instant Video subscribers.

"We want to be the best entertainment destination for customers."

Today, Michael Paull, VP of Amazon Digital Video, confirmed that Amazon Prime members would not be charged an extra fee for 4K UHD content.

"We want to be the best entertainment destination for customers," Paull said in an emailed statement. "Amazon Prime members will have access to a great selection of Ultra HD content on Prime Instant Video at no additional cost.”

The news arrives just a month after Netflix announced that it would begin charging a $3 per month premium for 4K streaming. Like Netflix, Amazon has also committed to shooting all of its original content in 4K.
