Some things I couldn't find in my research; there is ~760GB free space after initial setup. Upon initial boot up, it downloaded a ~1440MB update for the console, followed by an update for the controller(no USB cable required on new model controllers to update). After updating and retrieving my gamer tag, I hooked up a 1TB western digital elements drive, format was just a few seconds, set this drive to install too. Next came the game code for the included battlefield 1 game, ~64GB download. Had a couple games on disc to install so inserted on, forza 5. It starts installing, and notifies of an update, which I accepted. At this point it bumps battlefield down in the que and paused it's download. After fora, I inserted horizon 2, again it installs from disc at same time it downloads an update.once all was said and done, approximately 24 hrs later, it was ready to go, this on a ~10Mbps isp.
Runs quiet and cool, graphics are awesome. The down side for me is my 'in the sticks' 1Mbps speed at home. I have to take with me to work to do the updates. One of my boys bought doom, it was a ~44GB install that also wanted a 58GB update. One nice feature I found was in the network setting, I could simple go offline, which allowed the game to be played without having to update. As I type, it's currently at work updating that game...
Couldn't believe the size of games compared to 360, but considering windows 10 uses GB's of space compared to XP, doesn't really surprise me.
Love the color and included stand. Definitely pleased with the new Xbox.
For anyone who has an Xbox One, but not an Xbox One S (which was my situation), I recommend it, but only under a few conditions. If you have any plans to buy a 4K Blu-Ray player, buy this - it's lower in cost than a lot of standalone 4K players, and it's a game console/home entertainment center to boot! Another significant upside is the 1TB HDD; however, if you already have a 1TB Xbox One, then this is obviously not a selling point for you. The Xbox One S is also much smaller than the Xbox One (it's comparable in size to a PS4 or an Xbox 360 S model.)
Even if you don't have or want an Xbox One, this is a fantastic 4K Blu-Ray player and streaming machine (and if you ever decide to play some games, you can!)
Overall, I say that the Xbox One S is a fantastic and completely reasonably priced upgrade to an already amazing console, especially considering the 4K Blu-Ray and HDR support.
